About The Garden
The Indian Head Community Garden offers local residents an ideal place to grow their own garden. Located on public land, each gardener is given their own plot for a growing season and provided the tools needed to start a successful garden. Each gardener gets to keep all their produce. To keep costs low and to foster a sense of community, gardeners work together to tend to garden chores and help each-other out. Here are some commonly asked questions and their answers:
1. How big is each garden plot?
Each garden plot is 10 feet by 20 feet.
2. What is required to get started?
To get started you need to pay the registration fee and bring the seeds you want to plant. The seed library located in the Indian Head Library is a great place to get free seeds.
3. Is there water located nearby?
Every two plots is a water tap. Hose and watering wands are available to use at no cost.
4. How much is the fee?
The fee is set every spring by the gardening committee. We strive to keep the fee as low as possible. In 2024, the fee is $30 for the season.
5. Are there events?
Traditionally, gardeners get together a few times a season. In the spring, “Seedy Sunday” is an educational event hosted by the committee. In the spring and fall there are garden work days where gardeners are asked to help with garden maintenance.
